Project
A place of great significance for the Manningham community, Templestowe Memorial Reserve hosts two major events each year, honouring our service men and women - ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day.
Created in the early ‘90s, the site was looking a little tired and in need of a makeover. The council’s aim for the project was two-fold; to create a contemporary, reflective, and respectful environment to accommodate ANZAC crowds, whilst also offering a tranquil space for people to pay their respect in solitude.
Design
There are a number of Corten Steel features in the reserve, the centrepiece being the striking Corten Anzac Mural, which was custom designed for the memorial by Urbania.
All new Corten elements throughout the reserve were also designed and laser-cut by the Urbania team, including custom skate stops, a handrail to the stairs and a number of plaques.
Deliverables
Following a successful tender submission, Urbania carried out the complete hard and soft landscaping package that included:
Demolition and earthworks.
Hard surfaces including 330m2 of exposed aggregate, including exposed aggregate feature steps.
45m2 of bluestone cobble paving.
Custom raised platform with corten curved steel surround.
Custom in-situ concrete seating and 150lm of curved retaining walls. Drainage & electrical works.
Soft landscaping including garden beds and turf.
